I want to live in a world where all design is good design, and everyone is encouraged to cultivate their best self.

I am passionate about helping people be successful in what they’re doing, whether that’s learning new information in a course, wrangling data, understanding how to care for their own bodies, or getting their job done as efficiently as possible.

My professional life can be tricky to sum up—I’ve done a number of different things. What that means is I’m really good at talking to a wide variety of people, from subject matter experts to patrons in a cafe, people with a problem that needs solving, and people who know the solution but don’t know how to adequately explain it.

As an educator, I developed and taught a bookmaking curriculum for a group of fourth and fifth graders. Exploring a variety of simple book structures with children goes entirely differently from teaching bookbinding techniques to groups of adults. Turns out the kids are much more willing to explore and make mistakes, and some of those mistakes turn into glorious new things. Both groups have more fun with clear instructions delivered in multiple media.

I love to problem-solve, and to optimize. I’ve helped people figure out that thing that’s been rolling around in their head for a while. I’ve taught numerous people basic body maintenance, and how to fit it into their lives, so they can be empowered to take care of themselves. I figured out through collecting the mistakes how to better train people on expense reporting. Now I'm banging around in Salesforce, bending it to the will of nonprofit clients to the best of my ability, hopefully overall helping to make the world a better place, and learning a whole lot along the way.

When I’m not working, I’m often teaching myself something new (big nerd here). Things I’ve been working on over the past year include: guitar, mask making, square foot gardening, kalimba, garment sewing, German. When I’m not busy expanding my horizons, I like walking in the woods, playing in the ocean or getting my kayak in the water, feel-good video games, Euro-style board games, spending time with my preschool-age nibling, and reading queer YA fantasy novels with at least one cat on my person.

I'm nonbinary and use xe/xem/xyr pronouns. Read more about my pronouns here.
